Grandfather's Clock

guitar intermediate

In this lesson

After releasing my banjo version of this song, I got an overwhelming wave of requests for a guitar version! I'm happy to introduce the intermediate version of this old melody, with some great tricks as well. This version really works out our harmonics skills, and takes us all over the neck for some interesting pickin'!

Anybody have a tip for the left hand stretch in here? My pinky is not cooperating.

Try it without the pick for a few passes. Sounds silly but it told me my right hand was doing too much.

Don't force the pinky stretch. Move your thumb down behind the neck first and the stretch mostly takes care of itself.

Welcome aboard — you picked a good one to start on.

Same here at first. What fixed it for me was practicing that measure by itself for a week, no B part at all.
