John Hardy

mandolin advanced

In this lesson

John Hardy is simply...a fun tune to play! I built this one for SPEED! This version has some Monroe and Sam Bush type licks in it, and if you play it super-fast and a little bit "loose", it'll still sounds GOOD! This one is in the key of "G", which gives a lot of you some much needed practice in these positions. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I do!

My fingers know it but my brain doesn't yet — I can't play it without the tab in front of me. How do you all commit these to memory?

That's the one that made me finally understand backup. Stick with it.

Metronome at 60 and no faster until it's clean twice through. Boring but it works.

You're not behind. Two weeks on a lesson like this is normal and healthy.

There's a slower jam track under the resources tab on this lesson, worth grabbing.
