Thinking in Octaves on Banjo

banjo intermediate

In this lesson

I'm convinced that many, if not most, banjo players do not connect the dots between octaves, effectively leaving loads of licks on the table!

Got about 80% of this one down but the third measure keeps tripping me. Anybody else find that part awkward at speed?

Metronome at 60 and no faster until it's clean twice through. Boring but it works.

I had that exact problem. Turned out my thumb was anchoring in the wrong spot.

Memorization comes from playing it at a tempo you can think at. If you need the tab, you're playing it faster than you know it.
