Come, Thou Long Expected Jesus- Fingerstyle Guitar

guitar intermediate

In this lesson

There are some melodies that seem created for fingerstyle guitar! We'll play it in the key of C, which is great for singing & helps us in fretting the melody, too! The lyrics were written by Charles Wesley, but the melody, "Hyfrydol" by Rowland Prichard, is used for several Christian Hymns.

Anybody have a tip for the left hand stretch in here? My pinky is not cooperating.

I had that exact problem. Turned out my thumb was anchoring in the wrong spot.

Take the capo off and play it in open G a few times, then put it back. Helped me hear it.

Glad it clicked! That timing is the whole point of this lesson, so if that landed you got what you came for.
