Common G Licks

guitar intermediate Free lesson

In this lesson

Oldies but goodies! Two of my more popular videos on YouTube have been my G Lick Bluegrass Lesson videos...and for good reason, they're full of solid food, and a little spicy at that. You'll get what you pay for and more, with over 10 versions of the basic G Lick we're all so familiar with. Couple that with the other licks talked about in my videos and an exercise, and you've got yourself a full course meal...sleep tight!

Ben, this one finally made the timing click for me. Been fighting it for a month. Thank you.

Not just you. I still count this one out loud and I've been at it four years.

There's a slower jam track under the resources tab on this lesson, worth grabbing.

That's the one that made me finally understand backup. Stick with it.

Count it out loud. Everyone says it and everyone's right.

Great question. That's a slide going into the B part — I play it as a slide but a hammer-on works fine if that's cleaner for you. Do what sounds right.
