It Came Upon a Midnight Clear

guitar intermediate

In this lesson

I love Christmas. I love Christmas music. I love fingerstyle guitar. Therefore, I love fingerstyle guitar Christmas music! I know you'll love this version that is great for that special time of year! It's not too hard and it's not too easy...it's just right! I also have a flatpicking duet with mandolin, too!

My fingers know it but my brain doesn't yet — I can't play it without the tab in front of me. How do you all commit these to memory?

The pinky thing goes away, I promise. Took me about three months.

That's the one that made me finally understand backup. Stick with it.

Try measure 3 on its own at half tempo, and keep your right hand rolling even when the left hand is behind. The right hand is the metronome.

Recording yourself is humbling but it's the fastest fix I've found.

Not just you. I still count this one out loud and I've been at it four years.
