Softly and Tenderly

banjo intermediate

In this lesson

This classic hymn has one of my favorite melodies, and fits an expressive banjo solo quite well! Though it's slow, it requires some quick moves to keep it clean & make it sound pretty!

I keep losing the timing when I add the backup. Does anyone count this out loud or is that just me?

Metronome at 60 and no faster until it's clean twice through. Boring but it works.

Welcome aboard — you picked a good one to start on.

Try measure 3 on its own at half tempo, and keep your right hand rolling even when the left hand is behind. The right hand is the metronome.

There's a slower jam track under the resources tab on this lesson, worth grabbing.
